Kinja'd!!!

This weekend is a sad weekend. Final drives and enjoyment with the 944 were had yesterday; but I made the most of it. Here's what I did with my last four days driving her around before I had to put her in hibernation mode. My future plans with her, her future partial restoration and upgrades, and our first ever Cars & Coffee event.

So let's start on Day 1:

My antenna snapped in two when I went through one of those quick $5 washes, not one of my smartest moves for sure. So I decided to go to my local Porsche dealer to see if I could order one. I decided to order one myself, but not before I show you why I love this dealer.

Kinja'd!!!

The new vehicles they had this time included the new Boxster GTS, and this...

HNNNG!!

Kinja'd!!!

HNNNNGG!!!

Kinja'd!!!

IT'S OVER 9-HNNNG!!!!

Kinja'd!!!

The owner of the dealer has this lovely Carrera Cabriolet and a 924 Carrera GTS which was in a trailer container behind the Carrera, which I have seen before and it looks sexy AF!

After that eventful trip, I went to Classic Appreciation, the best local detailing shop. Why did I go there? My car isn't perfect. Sure, everyone has said it's a beautiful car in great shape, because the pics have only been from the rear and I haven't shown you a detailed look at the front end.

Mind you, it's a 30 year-old, low sports car; rock chips and scratches galore! I also have minor oxidation on the sunroof as well. The paint is original and needs a good restoration next spring. And I can't be trusted with doing something so delicate. So that's $240 out of my pocket in March, and I'm not complaining one bit. :)

Kinja'd!!!

Ended up parking in front of a 951/944 Turbo while I was there.

In preparation for Sunday's storage, I washed and waxed the car again.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

But it got dark as I was finishing up, so here's the end result when I decided to go out and hang out with some car friends:

Kinja'd!!!

(Not that bad I don't think for doing it blind? I corrected it in the morning.)

Kinja'd!!!

While I was out, I happened across this gorgeous 991 50th anniversary car in Graphite Grey; these pics will do it no justice sadly.

Kinja'd!!!

This concluded my Friday; now, on to Saturday:

And for mein and the 944's first time ever, on a cold, drizzling Saturday morning, we went to Cars & Coffee!! :D

And guess what the turnout was?

Check this out!

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Yeah! That was it...BUT! I did something strange. As some may recall from a previous post, I'm an introvert unfortunately, and find it rather difficult to go out of my way to try and talk to strangers new people.

Kinja'd!!!

But I did it..I actually went up to two different people and talked to them!! My god, was it painful for me, but I did it, and it was a good thing I did; because, the second guy I talked to actually owns a 944!! :D

His name was Scott, he's Scottish and a car designer for Ford, from France, and while he lived in France, owned a 928, 944, and 968! He's been in the states only a year, and currently owns an '89 944, the 2.7L 4-cylinder that was only produced for that year alone. But interestingly enough, I had seen and sat in the very car he owns before he even bought it!

(No SR-20, my bad)

Let me explain, when I started my 944 search last winter, I went to a local shop, Gilson Motorsports, there was a gold(actually Zermatt Silver) 944 race car being put back together by it's previous owner who works there. Inquiring about 944s and such, he allowed me to sit in it and get a feel for it. That very car is the one Scott bought, and he lives not to far from me too!

I showed him my car, talked with him for 30 minutes about 944s and such and it was wonderful, I'd never had the opportunity to talk to anyone about my 944 before, and it felt wonderful meeting someone who actually cared enough and wanted to see it and talk to me. It did wonders for my self-confidence. :)

Kinja'd!!!

I spent so much time there, I was inevitably late for work. But I saw a white 964 cab on the way, so much Porsche on Saturday!! :)

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

I spent Saturday evening, taking my mother for a spin around town in the 944, and she likes it! She says it's more comfortable than the 911, and much more livable; with working AC and heat.

Kinja'd!!!

We got frozen yogurt in downtown Birmingham, and happened across the only Mclaren 650 in the state at the same time! :D

Nothing interesting really happened on Sunday, it was supposed to be the last day I drove the 944 before "winter hideaway mode" was engaged, and I was to get back to driving the FocuST for the winter. But Monday morning, my mother was extremely lazy about backing her Explorer out of the driveway at 8:30am, and wouldn't let me touch it(as per the norm with her new car); so, simply called insurance to put on the driving insurance for ONE more day. What did I do on this FINAL day of driving?? I drove to class at 9am and drove back to switch to the FoST. -_-

Kinja'd!!!

I'll be missing driving her, but, I've got some big plans for 2015; including a Summer of Oppo Roadtrip!! That's right; once I get the approval from the parents, I'm planning on taking a round roadtrip from Michigan to New York, meeting as many Oppos as I possibly can; and some exciting events along the way. :)

Kinja'd!!!

This is only the end of the beginning of my adventures with Erika, and I'm loving every second and love sharing it with you lot! There won't be much to post about this winter, but hopefully I'll be able to find some neat and relevant things to talk about.

Hope you all enjoyed! :)

Kinja'd!!!

My neighbor has one of these, but he's kind of snobbish so we don't really talk much.

Keep me posted on the roadtrip. I'd be down to drive the Chrysler somewhere.

If you don't visit me, there's going to be a riot. Not only a riot, but I'm going to find your car, and I'm just going to remove the gears from your diff.

Will do! It'd be me starting in Michigan, and taking a route through Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York, and back home the same way or slightly different. Whereabouts are you along the path?

Sure is. I didn't drive her enough or as much as I would have liked these past four months, but I will most definitely make up for it next year! :)

No pictures. I have no idea what he does actually. What I can say is that he's under it more than he's in it. Doesn't leave the garage much, but he does doe track days at Watkins Glen once in a while.

I intend to visit you, and go to your local C&C and find Kosilla and have the time life learning how to detail cars! And then I'm gonna find Silvestro and deck him in the schnoz at AutoX! :)

If you want to go to my local C&C, you wont find Larry. If you want to find Larry, we'll have to road trip up to New Canaan and see if he's at one of the Caffeine and Carburetors.

My local C&C has a bunch of really nice cars though, but I've never seen Larry there.

Neat! I don't really like snobby people who think they're above everyone else with wealth and goodies. I sometimes wish unfortunate things for them if they deserve it.

Where is WG?

Haha, I hope you go to bed early. To get to New Canaan in time, we get up at 5am, and hit the road no later than 6:30, and even then, I usually don't arrive early enough.

You'll have to keep us posted on this road trip. I know so good places in NY to meet for people that can't necessarily make it to the City.

I don't think I'd be able to survive the city in a 944 all by myself with endless traffic. -_-

The end goal is to be able to make it up to see family in Upstate NY.

A haul, easily 3+ hours, no matter how you go. I personally have never gone, but may go soon in the future. I might be taking photos for the shop that has my car, and if that's the case, I'll be going to a few races with them.

Right in my wheelhouse. So just like keep us updated. I'm usually in the Syracuse area, depends on when you come through though. Maybe camping or at a race or something.

I also plan on bringing my car to a good detailer in the beginning of Spring. The work the paint requires to get the swirls and scratches out is beyond what I feel comfortable to not mess up.
